Energy Bill

In today’s news Congress has just voted to pass a new energy bill to push the active use of biofuse on a general basis. The proposal is required to use 20.5 billion gallons of biodesel by the time of 1915. This would ensure the massive change in our countries fuel use and would help to secure the delicate balance of our atmosphere. The next part of this discussion is the amount of corn ethanol that the Midwest and majority of Iowa will have to put in. This will increase the manufacturing for agricultures’, but will also deplete many of the small farmers that do this as a living. "Everyone understands that this is obviously a huge discussion in Iowa," stated Jay Truitt.

There are so many attributes that congress has to consider and with the deadline of the upcoming holidays and presidential elections this makes things very difficult. This all effects the environment and our place as Iowans in this country and when do we get to speak?

As an Iowan I do not know if I truly understand what it is that congress is trying to ask of us. It seems like a huge amount of industry and product to give in and I do not know if we have the power or willpower to accomplish such a big commodity. Hopefully this situation will resolve itself soon help to figure out how we can use our resources in such a way that it will not affect Iowa in such a tremendous manor.
